Then, you realise that you have to prepare all the stuff for celebrating this ending. Firstly, you have to start preparing the menu, say, choosing all the different dishes you should prepare before all the guests come at night. What to do? 'The starter may be a potatoes salad and then we can go on with roast beef... but auntie Clare cannot eat anything with potatoes... mmh oh! and little Susie is vegetarian! So, well I can cook some pasta for them.' And this is the start of the chaos. Then, you remember that you have forgotten to get the beef out of the refrigerator before to start cooking it, so that it is completely frozen. Finally, after hours and hours spent on cooking a decent meal, you call to some take-away restaurant and ask for a roast beef. After forty five minutes, the roast beef appears and you have the complete meal done!
Oh, wait! My guests will be here in 1 hour and I am not dressed yet!' Faster than Michael Schumacher you get bathed and start deciding what kind of hair-looking get. May you get it straightenend or get it curly and natural, may you get it into a ponytail or just like it is? After ten minutes you get it straightened and then another chaos arrive. What should I wear? 'This dress makes me look fatter, this one is too elegant, this is too flourish...' 23 dresses, 4 skirts, 5 trousers, 3 leggings and 7 blouses after, you choose the third black dress you wore. Then, you get your make-up done and put on your new and expensive high-heeled shoes that you were looking for in like 4 shoe-shops.
'Ding-dong!' The guests have arrived. You go quickly downstairs and with a very large but tired smile you open the door. 4 little children come in as wild animals and you, after an irritating look at the children, say hello to all the family. Once that everyone is sit down at the table and the dinner is served, all start eating. Also, it starts all the questions about your life, 'Do you have a boyfriend? How's your job? Are you fatter?' etc, etc, etc.
After trying to answer those invasive questions as nice as possible, it is almost midnight and everyone gets prepared for the last event. All have the grapes and the clock starts ringing: '1...2...3...11...12!! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!!!!'' And the fireworks starts to explode on the dark and cold sky outside. Everyone is excited and taking their drinks full of champagne meanwhile you are standing on your own, in a corner with your drink almost empty, watching the firework display from the window. 'I dont know why I'm feeling so blue, it is supposed to be a good and happy night, it doesn't happen anything bad at all during the dinner.' The mobile phone rings. 'Hello?' It is Mark, your best friend. He and a group of people are going to go to Trafalgar Square and they are inviting you to pass the rest of the night with them. Another smile is drawn on your face meanwhile your answering a very clear YES.
With some difficulties you say goodbye to the family, take your coat and go almost flying to the street, that one full of people wearing very elegant clothes and after twenty minutes, you can finally get a taxi. In thirty minutes you arrive and find Mark.
